El Ministerio de Trabajo y Seguridad Social, tiene origen en la promulgaci�n del Decreto de Ley No. 33 de junio de 1928, que cre� la Secretar�a de Trabajo, cuya finalidad principal fue la creaci�n del C�digo Laboral. Sin embargo, fue durante la administraci�n del Dr. Rafael �ngel Calder�n Guardia, cuando se consolid� dicha idea, espec�ficamente el 15 de setiembre de 1943, cuando entr� en vigencia el C�digo de Trabajo, lo que formaliz� la existencia de la Secretar�a de Trabajo y Previsi�n Social.
