Interest in Visiting Costa Rica |

Four in 10 Canadian international pleasure travelers (41.1%) say they would extremely or very much like to visit Costa Rica; another 26.2% say they would somewhat like to do so. The percentage of travelers saying they would extremely or very much like to visit Costa Rica has grown by 3.4 percentage points since 2001, reversing the decline in interest recorded in our 2001 survey.
One in seven Canadian international pleasure travelers (13.9%) have visited Costa Rica at some time in their lives for vacation/ pleasure, for business, or for other reasons. The majority of them (61.2%) say they would extremely or very much like to visit Costa Rica again; another 23.4% say they would somewhat like to do so. In fact, previous visitors express a substantially greater interest in visiting Costa Rica than do potential first-time visitors.
Time horizon for visiting central or South America
Among travelers who express strong interest in visiting Costa Rica, 36.3% say they are likely to take a vacation/pleasure trip to Central or South America in the next five years. Another 34.8% say they are likely to do so more than five years from now.
