The Fourteenth National Tourism Congress will take place this year at the Son José Palacio Hotel, organized by Costa Rica's National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) on September 22—24.
The subject matter to be covered during this congress is sustainability: Differentiation for success," under the leitmotif
The social, economic and environmental dimensions as basic pillars of a tourist destination's sustainability.
This subject was agreed upon due to its importance nowadays. A tourism destination's sustainability depends not only on implementing actions to avoid pollution and for conservation of the environment. Rather, the isolated efforts of different programs are not enough.

Even if it's true they're important, to attain a truly sustainable tourist destination, all social, economic and environmental elements have to come together, achieving on interdependent relationship, so our country becomes a sustainable tourism destination.
Thus, success will depend on achieving a balance between the elements, to guarantee a sustained and responsible growth of the tourism activity. This congress is aimed at high level executives and decision-making persons within the tourism sector. There will be lectures by government officials, round tables and forums on themes such as the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism, tourist safety, tramitology, and regional chambers of tourism, among others.
This congress is undoubtedly relevant. Historically, all agreements reached on different congresses organized by CANATUR have been fundamental in the construction of guidelines for the tourism sector on the years to come. The Costa Rican Tourist Board communicated that all efforts and actions will be focused on the issue of sustainability. We urge the tourism sector at large to participate of this important event.
