The commercial branch of EARTH (Humid Tropics Agricultural School) was given the EurepGAP good- farming practices certification for the third year running for its entire 690- acre banana production. The certification is considered indispensable for exports to Europe; positive news indeed for Earth, which produces some 600,000 boxes of bananas each year and employs over 200 workers.
Along with the EurepGAP certification, the plantation has earned ISO 14000 and SA 8000 certification.
Without a doubt, this certification demonstrates our commitment to EARTH University's mission and vision,” expressed Luis Quirós, the farms coordinator.
The distinguished university draws on post-graduated agro-science students from 19 countries, and bases its educational model on environmental awareness, business acumen, and social and human commitment to sustainable development of natural resources in the humid tropical regions.
