A Costarican teenager is one of the favorite contestants to win the 2012 Miss Teen Universe pageant, which will take place on April 30th in Managua, Nicaragua, with the final event.
17-year old Julissa Castro, current Miss Teen Model Costa Rica, is representing the country in the competition. She arrived to Nicaragua on Tuesday, and her beauty immediately charmed the press and organization in a popular TV show called "Nicaragua a la moda".
“As every other contestant, I came here to win, but the most important thing for me is to learn something from each one of the girls and proudly represent my country” said Castro, who lives in San Pedro de Poás de Alajuela, north of San Jose.
The young model looks forward to get more experience in beauty pageants, and she follows them since she was a child. Her plan is to be part of the Miss Costa Rica contest in the near future.
Due to the tight schedule of contests, rehearsals and other activities, she has given up a lot on her social life, and usually has to make a double effort on her studies in the senior year of Colegio Técnico de San Rafael de Poás. She has to ask the principal for a leave of absence every time that she has a pageant, as well as prepare in advance with the class contents. As she said, “honestly it is complicated, and a sacrifice and you need to keep a lot of enthusiasm. I have to plan my classes and schedules, and that’s where I’m always at”.
Miss Teen Universe is one of her first contests, and before that, she took part of another pageant in El Salvador.
She is now waiting for the Miss Teen Universe final event on April 30th, at 7 pm Costa Rica time.
