The tourism growth rate continues, but at a slower pace PDF Print E-mail
The arrival of tourists to Costa Rica continues to increase, but at a slower rate than had been anticipated.

Costa RicaDuring the first 4 months of 2008, the country had attained an increase of almost 16% in the number of visitors, relative to the same period in 2007. However, beginning in May, the ever increasing growth rate began to slow down. It's projected that 2008 will end with an average increase of around 10%.

Gonzalo Vargas, president of Canatur, explains that even though there is a decrease due to international factors, this pattern of growth continues to be satisfactory and pointed out that Costa Rica has been considerably less affected than many other important tourist destinations.
