Costa Rica’s precious stone of architecture: the Grand Hotel Costa Rica is located next to another one, the National Theater.
On last October 30th, this urban hotel celebrated 75 years of serving as the temporary residence of great personalities such as Harry Truman, John Kennedy and Jimmy Carter.
Constructed according to European Neoclassical canons of the 30’s, the hotel still conserves that air of culture and beauty of ancient San José. Founded by Dr. Luis Paulino Jiménez Ortiz, the hotel was the first one built with more than two floors, and counting with anti-seismic construction.
Conserving all its majesty, the hotel has been remodeled but holding on to those exquisite stories -it’s a door between the ancient and modern worlds.
