Temporary shutdown of Allegro Papagayo Hotel PDF Print E-mail
Last february the Ministry of Health ordered the temporary shutdown of Allegro Papagayo Hotel, of the spanish chain Occidental; this because of its inappropriate management of residual waters.

Occidental Resorts & HotelsSince the water treatment plant exceeded its capacity, the hotel administration decided to divert the surplus to a nearby swamp by using a clandestine piping, fact that was reported by surrounding neighbors and environmental activists.

The hotel has had to cancel booked reservations and won't be allowed to operate again until a new water treatment plant iproper with the hotels needs is built. Also, Playa Manzanillo, where the hotel is located, los its Ecologic Blue Flag Award because the before mentioned swamp flows directly into this beach.
