Oscar Arias Sanchez Swine FluSan Jose, Costa Rica. President Oscar Arias Sanchez was diagnosed with the swine flu pandemic (H1N1). The President of Costa Rica is now part of the 865 people who has been sickened. In Costa Rica the swine flu has caused 28 deaths. The president had swine flu symptoms since Sunday, but participated in public activities as late as Tuesday morning, when he appeared at a call center. President Oscar Arias Sanchez, 68, Nobel Peace Prize and mediator of the Honduras crisis, is being a concern for the health authorities since he is at higher risk than most because he suffers from asthma situation that can cause respiratory problems .His symptoms are fever and sore throat.
The pandemic makes no distinctions, Oscar Arias Sanchez said. "I am one more case in this country and I am being submitted to the recommendations that health authorities have established for the entire population. Besides, the normal pains of the flu I feel myself in all good capacity and conditions to continue governing Costa Rica”, said the President of Costa Rica.
Even he will be isolated in his house in Pavas, San Jose, Costa Rica, the head chief of the Government of Costa Rica will continue working. He will be in touch with all his ministers by using the telephone and the Internet, assured minister of communication, Mayi Antillon. The Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sanchez is the first Chief of State in the world to announce publicly that he has the swine flu.

Morice explained the difficulty to tell when and where the president got the flu. She also pointed that it wasn’t necessary to isolate all people who have been in contact with him, as long as they don’t present any of the symptoms. Actually, the CCSS (Social Security) has available 30,000 doses of oseltamivir or Tamiflu sent by the OPS (Pana-American Health Organization) and the government of Chile offered 50,000 more.

The president of the Republic of Costa Rica was diagnosed with the swine flu last Sunday.
