
The international conservationist organization Rainforest Alliance (Alianza para Bosques) included the national airline Nature Air on the list of world companies receiving an award this year as acknowledgment for their labors in corporate sustainability and for supporting conservation over the years.
The prize was recently received in New York, United States, in the category as Leader in Corporative Sustainable Standards, a distinction Rainforest Alliance grants year by year to those companies or persons whose commitment with conservation leads to a greener planet.

Nature Air operates in Costa Rica with local flights and to some cities in Nicaragua and Panama.
They received the distinction, after taking into consideration that the company was declared carbon-neutral since the year 2006, and also in 2005 compensated for the emission of 5.650 tons of carbon, the equivalent of 470.000 gallons of fuel used one year before, therefore collaborating with the conservation of 200 hectares of forest in the Osa Peninsula, on Costa Ricas's South Pacific. Actions realized within the company such as recycling and saving energy, among others, were also contemplated.
