The amazingly rich forests of Costa Rica were the setting for this year as science discovered 53 new species of insects, fungi and plants, which are now part of the National Biodiversity Inventory, and one of the reasons to order one of the costa rica all inclusive packages to visit this beautiful country.

The National Biodiversity Institute (INBio), Inventory Manager, said it was too early to say whether it is endemic.

"We can not say that they are endemic or unique to Costa Rica because this is the first description given. It is very likely that, over time, we begin to discover that they are in other countries," said the director of science INBio, Jesus Ugalde, to the local newspaper La Nacion.

In total, this year, were discovered in this gorgeous Central American country, 26 new types of insects, 19 plants and eight fungi. Of course, if you take one of the costa rica ecology tours, you will get to see not only those, but a whole bunch of other species.

The Costa Rican biodiversity inventory includes about 500,000 species, of which 75% can be seen with the naked eye because they are insects.

According to the experts, for that reason, there isn’t a big surprise that the majority of species found in this year have been mites, beetles, fruit flies, wasps, lice and moths or moths.

In terms of the wasps, it was described a whole new genre for science: Dentalion, which includes eight different species.

These small wasps, about two millimeters long, live as parasites in the nests of other wasps and bees. According to Ugalde, one of the most important findings was the fly Anastrepha converge, linked to fruit crops.
