A marvelous nautical spectacle will have Limón City as the arrival point this year, after this Caribbean port turns into the finish line for the Transat Jacques Vabre 2009 regatta; which will come from Le Havre Port in France.

Transat Jacques Vabre 2009For this purpose, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT, in Spanish), the Board of the Port and Development Administration of the Atlantic Area (JAPDEVA), the Municipality of Limón and the producer of the Penduick organization have unified all possible efforts for the success of this prestigious competition.

According to the Tourism Minister; Carlos Ricardo Benavides, Costa Rica achieves better positions beyond the tourism destination when being the scenery of one of the most important marine events of the world. It also puts the politics of sustainable development of the nation on the map.

To impulse the topic about promotion and merchandise of the destination, there will be a campaign for the final consumer in France. In there, Costa Rica will have a stand in the starting point of the competition. These actions are joined to an image demonstration realized by the organizers of the regatta.

Up to now, more than 40 sailboats have been registered in the competition that will last 12 days in the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. As a total of 7,000 kilometers.

Dear Sirs
I hope that Port Limon and the Caribbean Coast will be highly promoted in France as finish line. Most promotion I saw does not including the Caribbean Coast strongly as it should be.
Travel agencies enlisted are also belong only to San Jose.
The subject of the Reggata is Sustainability, so I don't think the French Organizers will like to know that there aren't a balance in this process.
Regards,
Dorling Taylor M.B.A.
