Major overhaul announced for the Costa Rica transportation network |

 BID The government of Costa Rica will invest $1,050 million dollars to modernize the hereto deficient transportation network of the country.
The resources will come from the BID (Inter American Development Bank), which approved a credit for $850 millions, while the state will contribute an additional $200 millions.
Together those funds will allow the improvement of the highway, railroad, port and airport infrastructure.
These will be a mayor surgery", said Karla Gonzalez, Minister of Public Works and Transportation, who explained that "this plan will permit the reconstruction of the deteriorated road network of the country, which in the last half century has only been able to receive basic maintenance.
The plan will include the reconstruction of some 500 kilometers of highways, some 60 bridges, and the modernization of the railroad system and an extensive program of traffic safety, among others.
