International publications acknowledge Costa Rica as Best Tourist Destination

Once more, Costa Rica is acknowledged as one of the most important destinations by the specialized media; for the Minister of Tourism, Rodrigo A. Castro Fonseca, this confirms that "our country, small in its territory but great in combinations, represents a magnificent opportunity for the international visitor."

One of the awards was given by the Modern Bride magazine to Minister Castro during the past edition of the World Tourism Fair, taking place in London the days of November 14 - 17.This publication, using a survey applied on travel agents, designated Costa Rica as "Best Destination" and as "Best Adventure Destination."

On the other hand, the magazine RECOMMEND granted Costa Rica the awards for "Best Destination" for Latin America" and "Best Destination for Ecotourism." These results will be published in the coming December edition and are based on the voting issued by travel agents consulted by said magazine.

Minister Castro said that our country has been experiencing over the last years an important growth of its tourism industry. In that sense, he recalled that for the preceding year the number of international visitors grew by 17.3% and for the first semester of this year the growth was of 18.1%.

He also remembered that important efforts have been made on international promotion during this administration as well as for attracting new flights "which has undoubtedly favoured Costa Rica’s positioning at the international level, especially in so important markets as North America and Europe."
