The most recent opening of offices at the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism in Nicoya and Liberia have already produced encouraging results. Management procedures such as certification of sustainability, as well as declaratory tourist permit applications for the use of the maritime terrestrial zone are carried out expeditiously and the business person avoids the transfer to San Jose.
The offices provide support to the Tourism Chambers, and gives a follow up to the local tourism program," said Carlos Ricardo Benavides, head of Tourism.
The opening of the two new sites is aimed at the decentralization of service and a greater dynamism in an area characterized by high tourist traffic. Through this office, information to local and international tourists is provided and with it the delivery and distribution of promotional material.
These sites have become an essential support for the work in the province, enabling businessmen and women not to have to travel to the capital for such services," said Pablo Solano, executive director-of the Chamber of Hotels.
Employers also have approached the facility to obtain information on institutional programs such as tourism declarations, certificates of
Sustainable Tourism and the Ecological Blue Flag. The program also includes openings in Puntarenas, San Carlos, Quepos, Golfito, Guapiles and Limón. The new headquarter sites located in Guanacaste gave employment to seven people in each sito. The investment amounts to 0 200 million.
