ICT performs regional workshops on tourist security |

This year the Costa Rican Tourist Board, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security, is to develop nine Regional Workshops on the area of Tourist Security in the different Tourist Regions of the country.
The main goal of the workshops is that the region begins acting pro actively and organizes or consolidates, as corresponds, an Action and Immediate Response Group that coordinates with the public authorities in case an event should occur that affects regional security.
On the past May 25th the first workshop took place in La Fortuna de San Carlos. It counted with an assistance of 40 persons among them Public Force’s functionaries of the area, managers and tourist businessmen with their security staff and members of the Municipal Council.
Some of the subjects exposed in these workshops dealt with the importance of tourism in Costa Rica and of course with Tourist Security. On this aspect -the relationship between the Public Force, the Chambers of Tourism and the tourist businessmen was analyzed. At the end of the workshop the labors realized by the Security Commission of the area’s Chamber of Tourism were discussed and it was agreed that they should meet with the Public Force once a week with the purpose of defining the actions to be taken.
The areas of North and South Guanacaste, will celebrate their Workshops the days of July 6 in Villas Nacazcolo and the day 7 in Sámara respectively. The remaining programming has been defined as follows: August: Limón and South Caribbean, September: Palmar Norte and Golfito, October: Puntarenas and Monteverde. San José is to be divided into four events, to be developed the coming year.
