Hilton Hotel's development plans in the Caribbean include new properties in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad, according to Lina Bain, vice president of international communications.
The Caribbean expansion is part of a global growth program that includes strategic partner alliances that will add new Hilton properties in Russia and Britain over the next several years, Bain said. Within Central America and the Caribbean, Hilton has partnered with Caribbean Property Group, a New York-based property investment firm, to develop franchised hotels in major cities in the five destinations.
Hilton recently signed management agreements with two existing properties in Costa Rica, which currently are under renovation and will reopen in the first quarter of 2008 as the Hilton Papagayo in Guanacaste and the Doubletree by Hilton Puntarenas in Puntarenas.
No timetable has been announced for Hilton’s new properties in Puerto Rico, Panama, the Dominican Republic or Trinidad as yet.
