The twenty-first edition of EXPOTUR will be held from May 31 to June 3 of 2005; organized yearly by the Costa Rican Association of Professionals in Tourism (ACOPROT), at the Conferences’ Center of the Herradura Hotel, in San Antonio de Belén, province of Heredia, Costa Rica.
EXPOTUR will count with the participation of international wholesaler buyers, of which 42% are present for the first time at the most important commercialization fair of the region.
This means that tourist products to be offered by over 280 local and regional vendors may be seen and negotiated by representatives of the new markets and segments.
Over 200 delegates, representing around 150 wholesaler companies of the tourist sector, coming from 16 countries of North America, Latin America and Europe, will be at EXPOTUR 2005.
Among the wholesalers that participate for the first time are Air Canada Vacations (Canada), Air Tours Krakow (Poland), Inca & Amazonian Tours SRL (Peru), and Delta Travel Inc. (United States).
The participation of new international wholesaler companies in EXPOTUR offers a diversification of markets and segments that makes possible for local and regional vendors, to access new potential clients in less time and with better management of resources.
Of the 42% new wholesalers to participate in EXPOTUR 2005, 71% come from the United States, 14% from Canada and the remaining 15% are distributed between Bolivia, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and Poland. EXPOTUR has a direct impact on Costa Rica’s economy; only during the twentieth edition of the fair, held last year, contracts equivalent to more than $180 millions were closed.
Moreover, product of the visit of the wholesalers to the fair and their stay, around $65.000 are generated as direct income for the concept of: room and board, air tickets and extras. Likewise, through the commercialization process new products and tourist modalities such as ecotourism are promoted.
