In 2010, Costa Rica will host the season of the maximum circuit of the adventure sports worldwide, called Adventure Race World Series.
From August 20 to 28, the country will be the seat of one of the most important activities within the extreme sports spectrum.

Since 2001, there have been series in Autralia, Sweeden, Brazil and France, among others. The race will be one of the nine dates of the championship which are taken as eliminatory for the Grand Final (Adventure Race World Championships), that will be during November in Castilla, Spain.
Each of those classifying circuits consists of a journey of approximately 500 kilometers in which each quartet (three people from one genre and one from the other) must compete in mountain biking, trekking, rappel, rafting and kayaking. Besides, the entire journey must be followed. It means, the time runs from the moments the flag waves GO and it doesn’t stop until the team crosses the finish line.
Each team analyses if they stop to rest or not. If the decision is affirmative, it must be done anywhere. Furthermore, any satellite navigation system is not allowed. The competition is with a map, a compass and the survival instinct.
