I.C.T (Costa Rica Tourism Board) rewards the TWO MILLION TOURIST for exceeding the figure in the first week of December

The I.C.T (Costa Rica Tourism Board) projected a few months ago a 15% growth in tourist activity, but after the crisis unleashed in the U.S., now down to 6% expectation.

It will be in the first week of December when Costa Rica receives in visitor number two million, for the first time in history. This year, with projected growth of tourism, our country would be adding two million one hundred thousand tourists.

But for the arrival of the tourist number two million, the Costa Rica Tourism Board prepares a reception worthy of a hero.

This was confirmed by Allan Flores, in Liberia for the inauguration of a new service for Sansa.
We are planning a huge reception, with many surprises. Tourists will have free lodging in hotels, we'll take a tour of several regions of the country, in order, we conclude that the country already receives more than two million tourists
said Flores but did not want to disclose more details.

The official confirmed that "according to the projections made, it will be in the first week of December", when the two million tourists crossing the posts of migration in the Juan Santamaria Airport. In 1999, was surpassed for the first time the barrier of one million tourists, which meant an increase for that year of 9.4% over the previous year.

Flores said that expectations for growth of tourism for this year have been reduced compared to the projections they held mid-year. The manager of ICT felt that at the end of the year, the tourism could grow between 6% and 9%, as recently believed still at 15%.

Flores explained that the phenomenon is due to the drop in the number of passengers is a global situation, by the financial crisis that afflicts many regions of the world.

The World Tourism Organization (WTO), recently lowered expectations for global growth of 6% to 2%.
This means we are going to grow three times the global average, which is very good
said Flores.

The national tourism depends largely on the economic stability of the United States, which also toured much of the world economy. During the year 2007, tourism accounted for U.S. nearly 40% of total non-residents who received Costa Rica.

In 2007, tourism generated 1 million 900 thousand visitors grew by 11.7% compared with 2006.
