The Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT, in Spanish) launched a warning about the misuse of /the institute’s name by several companies to promote vacational prizes.
The Institute warns about it in a press communication that those enterprises offer prizes and courses with the approval of the institute which is a total fake offer. According to the report, the ICT indicates that there is no involvement in any kind of promotion that offers prizes neither asks the consumer to get involved in a vocational plan. It also states that there is no winners list and not even a company hired by the institute to give the hotels prizes, cruises or any other offering. There aren’t signed agreements offering language training programs.
Apparently, this companies use the name of the institution to tell the consumer that there is an exclusive agreement to convince other people to claim for the prizes once they got to a dinner in a hotel or restaurant. These people say they are employees from the institute.
They are using the promotion “Redescubra su pais” (Re-discover your country), “Descubri tu pais” (Discover your country), “A un precio chiquitico” (For a tiny price); that are a trademarks from the Institute and they are legally protected, so it is totally illegal to use them.
Two of the companies misusing the institute’s names are:
- Invase S.A. (506) 2521-5981
- Marketing Rio Nilo. (506) 2240-0173
The institute wants the public to know which are the enterprises therefore people can avoid being deceit.
