Costa Rica Receives two awards as a Destination for cruises
Limón stands out as point of departure of the best tours our country was
acknowledged as the best destination for cruises in the world with
organized tours as well as destination with the best tourist guides. The
award was given to Carlos Ricardo Benavides, Minister of Tourism, the
framework of Seatrade, international fair of this industry taking place
this week in Miami.
The distinction was given by the prestigious Dream World Cruise
Destination magazine, whose headquarters are in London, England, after
rigorous selection process by high executives of cruise lines from all
around the world.
Costa Rica obtained the first place in two categories. The first one is
called Best Destination Experience-Organised Tours that rewards those
destinations with the best quality in organised tours. Thus, Puerto
Limon reached the first place placing it above Helsinki in Finland;
Saint Peters‑Burg, Russia and Valparaiso in Chile.
The second category our country obtained a first place in is as
Destination with the Best Tourist Guides where performance of these
professionals is rated, and the quality of service given to visitors.
Once again the port of Limon was placed above cities such as Cadiz in
Spain; Lisbon in Portugal; Halifax in Canada and Pemang in Malaysia.
