For the second year in a row, Costa Rica earns first place as the most competitive Latin American country in the area of tourism, according to the World Economic Forum.
This ranking certainly compels us to try just as hard to maintain the quality of the product we offer to our tourists and to continue working hand in hand with the private sector, said Benavides.

The results of the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index showed the country 44 in the list. This ranking placed us above countries such as Puerto Rico (46), Brazil (49), Panama (50), Chile (51), Mexico (55), Argentina (58), Uruguay (61), the Dominican Republic (63) and Guatemala (68). If only Latin America and the Caribbean are considered, Costa Rica ranks second behind only Barbados (29).
The World Economic Forum takes into consideration three parameters in order to make this index: the regulatory framework, the business environment, and the tourism infrastructure as well as each country's natural, cultural and human resources.
It is worth pointing out that the country's highest marks were earned in the areas of human resources and tourism infrastructure. First place in Latin America and the Caribbean was achieved.
