Costa Rica: paradise for “wave running” PDF Print E-mail
International tourism visits Costa Rica to learn of its volcanoes, forests and to “run waves” in its beaches. The sport of “surf” currently attracts 222.659 of the tourists coming to the country by air.

According to data for the year 2004, tourists practicing this sport represent 20.5% of the tourism visiting the country. In this we see how the number of surfers duplicated as respects previous years, informed Antonio Pilurzu, president of the Surf Federation.

In previous years, these sportsmen represented only 12.4% of the foreign tourists, and numbers for this year have grown over 100%. It’s worth mentioning that 1,087.890 persons visit this Central American country yearly, looking for different tourist options.
