According to the Technological Competitiveness Index of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, placed Costa Rica as the most competitive country in Central America and the Caribbean.
The report, realized during the 2009-2010 season, evaluated the economy in 133 developed and in developed process countries in the whole world. The numbers showed that, for this occasion, Costa Rica gained seven places since last season (2008-2009), placing it in the fourth place in Latin American, surpassed by Barbados, Chile and Puerto Rico.
Since the world perspective, the situation of the region countries is in good shape when talking about competitiveness. From the 133 studied countries, Costa Rica was placed number 49, Panama 58 and the Dominican Republic in the 74.
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua are in the list occupying the places 81,83, 106 and 125, respectively.
Switzerland was crowned as the most competitive country in the world, replacing the United States that occupied the first place during many years.
