During the second day of the
Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in Hermosa Beach,
Jaco,
Costa Rica; the Costa Rican surfers are just bossing the house with pure surfing.
Carlos Muñoz achieved his pass to the third round of the main event to be in the second place in the hit that was led by Hawaiian surfer Joel Centeio with a very high level development. Muñoz just got into second place and assured the performances of Anderson Tascon (COL) and Blake Sands (BAR) don’t pass their combination.
I feel good for passing the hit, but I’m not satisfied on how I surfed. I believe I could give more. My mind is ready to win and not to get to second place. I will be conformist if I just keep happy with the second place”, affirmed Carlos Muñoz.
Muñoz was in the hit 1 round 2 that started at 8am. Nearly 11am with 10,000 people watching and supporting the actions of the
Costa Rica National Team in Playa Hermosa, the turn was for Gilbert Brown in one of the most spectacular hits that he has won during his career as a surfer.
Gilbert Brown, got the best score during the complete day with 9.33. He has one of the bests, if not the best backside in
Costa Rica when the waves over pass 5 feet tall.
The hit that made history
The hit that represented the maximum exposition of adrenaline was the competition for Jason Torres. He remembered Jeremy Flores (France), Roy Powers (Hawaii) and Matt Benrose (Australia) why Costa Rica is nowadays a surfing world power; he won the series and achieve the highest combination of the day with 17,33.Moreover, this guy from Jaco rode two of the 10 best waves of the series. Waves qualified as “excellent”, according to the ISA Judges.
Jason laid everything on his series putting on his memory how you to the respect of the opponents, the judges and the ovation of the crowd that brings the special ingredient to the first World Championship in
Costa Rica. The Costa Rican surfer with more surfing medals and honors in
Costa Rica, achieved what he needed to tie the series during the first minutes of the hit. He developed each of his rides almost perfectly. The president of the ISA, Fernando Aguerre, gave him a hug after all the sport manifestation of the Tico.
This isn’t anything close of what I could do in Portugal. Thank God I’m in such a great moment of my career and I achieved something that I knew I could get. I want to thank the people on the beach who take big part of this merit, expressed Jason Torres.

On the other side, the women’s side, Lisbeth Vindas is in round three of the main event when placing second in the series against surfers from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. She made it to the next round with the Australian.
