According to the Costa Rican National Museum’s director, Francisco Corrales, there are many well-founded reasons for the Archaeological Reserve in Palmar Sur to be declared as world heritage.
Among them is that this site has five important spheres and structures, such as one that was recently excavated; they correspond to a circular mound, whose diameter is over 27 meters and its height one and a half meters; it also counts with an esplanade serving as access, measuring 20x20 meters, that is near to the two alignments.
The decision of if it will be declared as world heritage or not depends of UNESCO; expectations are high among the different authorities of the country, both in the cultural and environmental fields. Cocos Island was previously declared as world heritage.
