With the participation of Jason Torres in the semifinal of the “repechaje” rounds, Costa Rica said good bye to the first world surf championship held in
Costa Rica by ended in the position number 7 in the event celebrated in
Playa Hermosa Jaco. Before finishing the biggest surf Olympics games in history, the “Ticos” ended labor in the position number seven.
Carlos Muñoz and Jason Torres from
Costa Rica entered round 7 and 5 of the “repechaje” where Muñoz left Torres as the only surfer in the competition when he got the position number 4 in the hit that he faced Jeremy Flores (France), Brandon Jackson (South Africa) and Austin Ware (United States).
Muñoz was the first to “score” after getting into the deepest of the right that began in low tide in front of the Terrazas de Pacifico Hotel in
Playa Hermosa,
Costa Rica. The tube that Muñoz completed helped him concrete the hit, but, the lack of a second better wave took him to the fourth place.
However, Jason Torres from
Costa Rica opened a great morning for the ticos to lead the hit where he faced, for the third time French Jeremy Flores. The public went crazy after a dose of adrenaline when he got the first position in the last minutes of the hit with waves he took directly to the shore and with a usual ending of his performance.
Jason got to the “repechaje” finals in the fourth hit. This time he didn’t get what he wanted and abandoned the competition being number 7 in the world.
