Costa Rica among the countries with higher growth in tourism PDF Print E-mail
World Tourism OrganizationThe World Tourism Organization published in June it's barometer on the tourist activity during the first months of 2008. During this time, tourist activity at a world wide level had an average growth of 5%.

Costa Rica on the other hand, triplicate the world wide median in tourist growth, reaching an increase of 15.6% as compared to the same period in 2007. Other countries that stand out on the list are Chile, United States, China, Peru and Japan, all with a tourism increase of over 10%.

Between 2003 and 2007 Costa Rica has registered an increase of 56% in the number of visitors that arrive by air. For 2008 the expectation is of nearly 2.1 million visitors, that is, some 200,000 more tourists that what we received the year before.

Tourism is the main economic activity in Costa Rica, generating annual income that surpasses $ 1.9 billion.
