The private enterprise, municipalities and the government come together to prevent possible slowdown of the industry due to the 2009 crisis.
The phrase "unity is strength" will be implemented by the private sector, government and municipalities of the province to mitigate any impact on the tourism sector.
The Tourism Chamber of Guanacaste along with representatives of the Municipal Federation of the area proposed to accelerate the disbursement of budgetary resources and take care of urgent needs that can allow economic sustainability during economic crisis periods, and also ensuring proper tourism growth in Guanacaste throughout this year.
Amongst the initiatives included are the repair and maintenance of cantonal roads, construction of landfills and aqueducts, infrastructure for wastewater management, strengthening of regulatory plans, increased security, streamlining and simplification of procedures.
If we don't take these issues seriously and provide efficient solutions, Guanacaste can not continue to attract prestigious international hotel chains much as those which have enabled Costa Rica to position itself as a renowned country on the world map. The province has become a dynamic center for development and sees investment profit that benefits its' 400 thousand inhabitants, "said Mauricio Cespedes, executive director of CATURGUA.
Céspedes recognized the need to generate a much more aggressive infrastructure to provide tourists and foreign entrepreneurs with a strong incentive to choose Costa Rica as their destination.
We can not deny that tourism is the core axis that drives the economy of Guanacaste, he added.
Corporate solidarity
Both CATURGUA and the Construction Chamber will work together with municipalities to assist in training and strengthening of it's management in key areas, such as government, and bidding processes in the hope to eliminate 'bottlenecks' or delays that prevent municipalities running their millionaire resources accumulated for cantonal municipal investment. Other priority themes can be added such as environmental conservation.
