Arenas Del Mar Beach & Nature Resort would like you to know that the spectacular beach on the north side of the grounds which ends at Punta Quepos, a peninsula of primary forest and beautiful rock formations, and on which Arenas Del Mar (known as Playitas) is located, was granted the prestigious Blue Flag (Bandera Azul Ecológica) award for 2009.

This program foments and certifies the sustainable development of Costa Rica’s beaches through strict criteria such as; water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and other essential services.
The Bandera Azul is a volunteer certification that incorporates both the private and public sectors. On Playitas Beach specifically, Arenas Del Mar has taken a leadership role in obtaining certification for three consecutive years. We believe that the participation of our local communities is integral to forming a successful plan for sustainable tourism and development.
Regarding the Manuel Antonio National Park…
February 27th, the Manuel Antonio Park underwent to an inspection by the Ministry of Health to resolve a pollution situation that had been generated by outdated sanitary facilities. This has been alleviated and more work will continue in the next four months to assure a long and healthy life for the park.

The agreement that was made between the Ministry of Health and MINAET keeps the park open to the public by providing better service and funds by the Tourist Board have been granted to investigate the impacts that this controversy is generating.
Arenas Del Mar is far from this area and is still a pristine and certified area.
The park is fully operational as usual so guests can visit and appreciate the natural beauty and attractions offered by this national treasure: a fascinating combination of rain forest, beaches and coral reefs.
