Moody's Investors Service recently changed the risk rating for Costa Rica from "stable" to "positive", after assessing the various improvements in economic indicators.
The country's foreign debt, as well as the high probability of continued economic growth despite the current global turbulence was all cited as reasons for the improved rating.
The economic authorities are very pleased with the upward movement on such a world renowned risk rating scale.
The Minister of Hacienda (Economic Minister), Guillermo Zuņiga, stated that he is very happy with the news "because this is recognition by a major international rating entity and because it sends out a signal to both local and international investors that there is a positive environment in which to conduct business in Costa Rica."
