Isla Bolaños Wildlife Refuge (62 acres / 25 hectares), an oval-shaped rocky mound in the Pacific, is located only a few miles north of Santa Rosa National Park near the border of Nicaragua. It was established to protect nesting colonies of brown pelicans, American oystercatchers and frigate birds. Access is by private boat, when one can find one. The region becomes very windy during the dry season. Camping is not permitted. No facilities available.
