Costa Ballena PDF Print E-mail
Welcome to Costa Ballena, the entrance to the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica, where year round you can enjoy the radiant green of the mountains and the lush green of the forests. The panoramic views are amazing as mountains merge into the depths of a deep blue sea and nature regales us with whales, dolphins and many other marine species that come to the area to reproduce. The experience is unique as the enchanting sounds of the forest reach us from the heights of the mountain tops while lightening bolts, thunder and rain; combine with the echoes of the ocean surf.

The experience is heightened even more as the beautiful coast and unique beaches of Costa Ballena (named for the whales that come to the area in their yearly mating ritual) provide a fabulous setting for all this activity. Nature has also blessed Costa Ballena with lush tropical forests and mountains, a large diversity of wildlife all amid beautiful refreshing waterfalls. There are plenty of opportunities to find enchantment and adventure

Whales and Dolphins

At certain times of the year, visitors can observe four species of whale and dolphin that appear in these crystalline waters to court while still other birth their calves, making the area a true wonder of nature. There are boat tours that allow you to find these astonishing creatures. Dolphins will often jump in mid air saluting the tourists and showing off their playfulness in total harmony with the ocean and the dynamism of the waters.

Costa Ballena Costa RicaScientists have assured us that there are only two areas of the world where the whales of the northern hemisphere meet the whales of the southern hemisphere providing us all with such a spectacular experience. One is in Northern Africa, and the other is in Costa Rica specifically in Costa Ballena near Dominical.

But the magic doesn't end with the whales and the dolphins. The biodiversity found on land in the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica is incredible, reaching the deepest parts of the soul of all those who visit there. The vibrations of nature entrap you. The scenery caresses you. The peace from within will make you come alive.
