The Central Valley of Costa Rica’s consists of San Jose (Costa Rica’s capital city) and the towns of Heredia, Alajuela and Cartago. San Jose offers a very such as Santa Ana, Escazu, Ciudad Colon and Rohmoser. Heredia offers a cooler climate and is also very popular as well as Alajuela which is generally warmer.
Cartago also offers cooler climates and some spectacular scenery. Heading past the International Airport on the current road to Jaco Beach, you would pass the area of La Garita which has many large estates and has been blessed with one of the best climates in the world. Past La Garita is the town of Atenas which is semi-rural and has beautiful green scenery and views to the ocean in the distance.

National Theater
San Jose lies at an altitude of just over 3,750 feet above sea level which contributes to its year-round springlike weather. It offers a blend of new and old and is basically a small town that grew up in all directions and less a big metropolis. There are very few tall buildings and many historical buildings like the main Post Office and the National Theater among others plus lots of parks which give it a small town feel.
There is a large park with lakes and recreational facilities called La Sabana which has seen the stars of high rise residential buildings with mixed use which also offer commercial and office space on the lower floors, so we have a kind of miniature Central Park in the works. The Central Valley is also experiencing a real estate construction boom and there are many large and small residential projects currently under construction such as Hacienda El Dorado in Rio Oro de Santa Ana and Zafiro condominiums in Los Laureles de Escazu which is a very upscale neighborhood and the home of the US Ambassador to Costa Rica is located here as well.
This is a good time to buy as the values will definitely go up when more and more people discover what a great place to live in this is and what wonderful year-round weather it has to offer. From the Central Valley you can be at a Central Pacific beach in under two hours or at a Caribbean beach in three.
You can explore many great towns and attractions all located anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes away so this is a great area to have your home in because you can also enjoy all the fine restaurants, nightlife, cultural events, concerts, fine shopping, medical services and all the amenities of a modern cosmopolitan city.
Art and Culture
The traditions of their indigenous people coupled with the heritage of colonial Spains continues to enrich the Costa Rican's inherent appreciation of beauty and culture. The people of Costa Rica have a traditionally come together to create and support museums, theaters and other institutions dedicated to the preservation and continued proliferation of Costa Rican culture.
You will be able to enjoy artifacts from the pre-Colombian period, relics from the Spanish colonial period and artistic works from the modern period, which often seem to gain their inspiration from Costa Rica's rich history.
