• 'AyA' and 'MS' remain is constant vigilance of contamination in beaches.

Recently a press conference took place with the Executive Chairman of 'AYA' Ricardo Sancho. Accompanied by the Health Minister, Maria Luisa Avila, and the National Director of Water, Darner Mora, they unveiled the evolution of healthy quality water in the beaches of Tamarindo, Manzanillo and Samara, with results obtained in other monitoring programs that help beaches at the risk of contamination.
Tamarindo Beach
The latest assessment gave a density of CF / 100 ml, qualifying the seawater as suitable for swimming and bacteriological safe. This healthy improvement of the beach is a product of the good coordination work and the interest of the community and support from private enterprise in Tamarindo, Ministry of Health and 'AyA'.

Tamarindo Beach
However, the last inspection made on August 13th detected a new unhealthy unload of material located (South) behind `Bar Copacabana', which gave a very high count of fecal coliforms, indicating that although conditions have improved, there still remains some levels of contamination.
In light of this the executive president of 'AyA and the Minister of Health have appealed to the community to be vigilant so that they can conduct inspections on the beach and act on respective complaints if sewage water is detected in the sea. Both leaders agree that Tamarindo can get back to the 'Ecological Blue Flag award', but for that to occur it is necessary to eliminate all wastewater discharges that exceed 1000CF/100 ml.
Currently 7 discharges were tested and three were higher than 1000CF.
Manzanillo Beach
The last assessment of seawater in beach Manzanillo was categorized as excellent, and with a great capacity to recover the 'Ecological Blue Flag award'.
Samara Beach
This beach assessment had a great improvement in seawater quality, promoted as a candidate to obtain the 'Ecological Blue Flag award'.
