Costa Rica was the scenario in which —Task Force-the International Sustainable Tourism Work Group discussed initiatives that are friendly with the environment, to be applied by various countries of the world in tourism matters.

This group is mode up by notions such as France, Norway, Gerany, Brazil, Bahamas, Cope Verde, Cambodia. Costa Rica, hina, Croatia, India, Italy, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco and ew Zealand. The objective of this group, which gives follow up to agreements reached in the Sustainable Development World Summit held in 2002 in Johannesburg, is promoting actions that change consumption and production habits into sustainable ones, through mechanisms such as compensation, fostering "green" services and practices that are environmentally friendly.
The work reunion included subjects such as "Tourism and Biodiversity," "Climatic Change," "Methods and Strategies to Develop Regional and National Strategies for Sustainable Tourism", as well as "Financing and Investment in Sustainable Tourism".
Within this scheme, members of the Task Force not only referred to obvious aspects related to how to impulse initiatives replicable in other nations of the world, but also discussed cases of ongoing sustainable projects in diverse nations and participant organizations. Our country specifically showed the results of companies within the Certificate for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program.
