
129 children of the Santa Marta School in Montes de Oca, started on the road leading to the Ecological Blue Flag (program certifying awareness of and action for the environment); hard journey, planting 200 fruit and flower trees in a space of 300 square meters now not in use.
The plantation will employ native species such as rose apple (Eugenio jambos), Aguacatillos (Phoebe spp), star fruit (Averrhoa carambola), Jacaranda, Flamboyant tree (Delonix regia), Cos, Tucuico (Ardisia sp), (Diphysa americana) Guachipelín, Orchid tree (Bauhinia ungulata) and Soto de Caballo, all previously defined with a forestry study carried out by experts.
Besides planting, they will receive environmental education which includes installment of four batteries of three trash cans, each one to recycle organic waste, paper, cardboard and plastics. In this activity they will bring waste from their homes in order to classify and dispose of adequately in each container.

Also within the framework of this activity, a classroom will be conditioned for environmental education and as collection center; and a structure currently idle, to create a compost container. This socio-environmental rescue of the school in Santa Marta is organized and coordinated by the Costa Rican Association of Professionals in Tourism (ACOPROT) in the framework of the Cooperation Agreement for the Development of Smalls Environmental and Beautifying Projects in the Canton of Montes de Oca, signed among the association and the Municipality
For this socio-environmental project ACOPROT and the Municipality of Montes de Oca receive the collaboration of the program Recycle Costa Rica (donors of the trash cans, and in charge of the lectures), the travel agency Horizontes (in charge of the educational activities), Mapache Rent a Car (donated the trees), Florida Bebidas (donate the snack products) and Nature Air (donating snacks).
