Not all beauty is visible at first sight. Costa Rica's interior offers a magical spectacle sure to please those in search of an adrenaline rush. Located only three kilometers from La Fortuna (in San Carlos) are the Venado Caverns, offering visitors a descent into the heart of caverns that is surely a must see.
 Venado Caverns The stalactite, stalagmite, limestone and coral caverns are geared up for exploration, and fossils, bats, spiders and insects amuse and amaze all their daring visitors. Some 62 kilometers from the city of Liberia sits the Barra Honda Nacional Park of Nicoya, another ideal spot for those in search of an additional cavern adventure. Barra Honda first lures visitors with a scenic hike through ideal Pacific dry forest. Then, once inside the caverns, the sounds of dropping water and visions of weirdly shaped hardened calcium formations dramatize a surrealistic experience within the earth.
