Costa Rica to hype rural tourism PDF Print E-mail
Costa Rica will promote rural tourism with a view to diversify the sector and publicize the development of countryside communities, said Manuel Carranza, chairman of the Tourism Professionals Association of Costa Rica (ACROPOT).

According to Mr. Carranza, the initiative dubbed Community Rural Development seeks to give neighboring towns and villages stripped of any economic possibility the chance of grabbing revenues out of the tourist activity. A case in point is the number of houses that will be outfitted to accommodate guests.

Mr. Carranza unveiled the plan during the 18th Inter American Tourism Congress of the Organization of American States held this week in Guatemala.
I cashed in on this chance to meet with Tourism Ministers from Central America and keep them posted on the details of the new tourist marketplace for the region, something we now call the Central American Marketplace", Mr. Carranza concluded.
