Take the Cure in Guanacaste
One would think that the influx of holistic practitioners in Guanacaste would be attributed to the abundance of flora and fauna in the province, a worthy bet considering that the natural rhythms of the human body seem to flourish along with the earth’s environment. Yet, there seems to be something more to the proliferation of alternative healing and treatments of alternative healing and treatments popping up in the area. Some say it’s to keep a balance in the universe, a yin of spirituality to the yang of the wild, partying atmosphere than can be found at some of the tourist resorts.
Acupuncturist Caroline Heaviland thinks it’s simpler than that: “Guanacaste is an energy vortex, much like Sedona, Arizon or even areas of Peru. This place is an acupuncture point of the earth. I ended up here, because the wind just blew me this way.”
Tamarindo’s Reiki Master Sarah Meyes concurred: “People are discovering yoga and herbal remedies as alternatives when they find western medicines are not all they are cracked up to be. People want to heal. The level of consciousness in general is rising. Guanacaste is a microcosm of the world.”
