This special little area of beach and mountains was recently opened up with the construction of the PCH in this region. It has a very wide sandy beach which is easy to get to, and you can still see turtles finishing their annual egg-laying odyssey on the-shore. The mountains above the highway to the west are steep, high and cloaked with rainforest.
As tourists are just now beginning to travel this stretch of coastline and discover this spot, there are still no crowds, and lots of space and privacy. The locals have formed a real community and cooperate in many projects. Since this is above all a residential settlement of expatriate foreigners there is very little of the "touristy" atmosphere, and the impression of down-to-earth living and community wide friendliness can be felt and hopeful appreciated by all visitors.
The area is progressing rapidly, with a shopping center just 2 kilometers up the road in the Playa Ventanas area. Tours in the area include sea and river kayaking, boas tours, snorkeling, birding, fishing, waterfalls and horseback riding, It's similar to Uvita in many respects, but with much more modern construction styles and somewhat closer proximity to the mountains and beach (the highway was cut narrowly between the two). The community is located about 24 kilometers north of the town of Palmar, and about 19 kilometers south of Uvita.
