With a long tradition, this is one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica. Located in a bay with little surf, it is highly suitable for swimming and boat anchorage. Its gray sands stretch for almost three kilometers. To the south is Punta Centinela, which features a white-sand cove. Playas del Coco offers a wide range of services that allow tourists to enjoy all kinds of recreational and sporting activities, including sport-fishing, diving and boat tours. The beach is also great for walking and horseback riding.

Coco Beach
"El Coco" as we know it, is a traditionally fishing village and international community combined. If you enjoy sport fishing, El Coco is a big hub for the sport. There are many operators that will take you out for a day or half a day tours. A full day will take you finto deep water, where you have the chance to land a sailfish or marlin. Half-day trips will likely keep you closer in shore, where you can catch tuna, dorado, snapper or feisty rooster fish.
Prices ranging from $250 to $850 depending on the boat type, the cost generally covers the boat, captain, equipment, bait and drinks. In a full day trip usually include lunch.
Wandering around El Coco you'll find indoor boutiques and open-air market, numerous restaurants to choose from serving seafood, Mexican, Italian, or typical, great pizza or simply something to drink. It also have night life. If you like dancing, karaoke or pool, you can do it here. If you are into casinos, some hotels have them too.
The Marina Turística in Playas del Coco is also certainly soon to come. This will be the entry port to Guanacaste, servicing the tourist docks for the Papagayo Gulf. With customs, immigration, port capacity, police, hotels and commercial enterprises of different types, this will be an ideal location for what will be only the second officially authorized marina in the country.
