Charrarra
Charrarra is a 25 hectare park located in Paraíso, in the province of Cartago, about 40 minutes from San José on a well paved road.

This place receives variable winds (20 kms. per hour and more) that run across the lake. This condition is appropriate for beginners in the art of windsurfing. Its closeness to the city and the facilities it offers, make it an attractive low price option. Nevertheless, this place does not offer equipment rental possibilities, so you must bring it yourself if you want to windsurf here.
The park is open to public every day between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and keeps a permanent bus service. Charrarra also offers swimming pools, sports fields and services such as restaurant, drinking water, dressing rooms and showers among others.
On the other hand, if tourists would like to tour the region, they will find colonial churches in Ujarrás and Orosí, sightseeing areas, hot water springs and parks such as Tapantí.
Remember to check out the Lankaster Botanical Garden on your way to Paraíso, where you can find hundreds of orchid species.
Bahía Salinas
Inside this bay located in the Santa Elena Peninsula, north of Guanacaste, there is a beach called Puerto Soley, which windsurf experts consider as the best location in the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica to practice this sport. This beach presents strong winds without dangerous currents. Also the waves represent a challenge for those wishing to practice wave sailing.
Arriving here is not difficult since most of the road is in good condition and only the part between La Cruz and Soley remains yet unpaved, anyhow it can be easily accessed by any type of vehicle.
As for tourist facilities, this beach does not have much to offer, since it is still in its developing stage.

At Soley you can find all basic services such as telephone, electric power and drinking water. The only hotel in the area is called Three Corners and there you can rent equipment and receive windsurfing lessons. The hotel offers approximately 25 complete Ezzy brand sets and they have more than 45 sails to choose from; the rates depend on what you wish to do because at Three Corners they offer a 3 day package including equipment rental and daily 2 hour windsurfing lessons.
The hotel offers all types of facilities, its 72 rooms have air conditioning, running hot water and telephone. Also Three Corners provides different tours to Isla Bolaños and the Guajiniquil Natural Reserve, horse rental and mountain bike equipment among others.
Other Areas
There are other beaches such as Jacó, Tamarindo, Sámara, Nosara and Tambor that offer the basic windsurf equipment; but it is said that practicing the sport in these areas can be dangerous specially for beginners because winds normally come from inland and generally will push windsurfers towards deep sea.
